Bay Street Players Young People's Theatre presents a charming family musical for five performances in October. Captain Louie JR, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Anthony Stein, is adapted from the children's book The Trip by Ezra Keats.

This musical is a story of young Louie, whose family has moved to a new neighborhood, causing him to leave his old friends. On Halloween night while playing with his favorite toy, a little red plane, he takes an imaginary journey to visit his old friends. The story is full of tricks and treats and the incomparable music of Stephen Swartz who also wrote the music for Godspell and Wicked. Most of all, this musical is about friendship – the ability to make new friends and the importance of old ones.

Directed by Amanda Warren, students have been rehearsing the show during the Young People's Theatre after school classes since August 20. These talented youngsters are ready to perform and will sing and dance their way into your hearts.

The musical runs October 18, 19 and 20 at 7PM and on October 20 and 21 at 2PM. There will be a Halloween costume contest on the October 19 and 20 7PM performances and adults and youngsters are encouraged to attend these performances wearing child friendly costumes.

The performances are at the historic State Theatre, 109 North Bay Street, Eustis; FL. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students and may be purchased by calling the box office at 352.357.7777 or online at www.baystreetplayers.org.
