Mad Cow Theatre has announced the cast for Sunday in the Park with George with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. The musical will be the first production in The Harriett Theatre at Mad Cow's new Church Street facility.
One of the most acclaimed musicals of our time, this moving study of the enigmatic painter Georges Seurat won a Pulitzer Prize for its deeply insightful and highly personal examination of life through art and the artist.
Act One follows the inarticulate Seurat as he fights a losing battle to maintain a relationship with his mistress Dot as he creates his painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” amid the scorn of the artistic community. The second act takes place 100 years later, introducing us to his American descendant, also an artist, burned out and uncertain of the path he must take.
Sunday in the Park with George will feature David Almedia, Tess Carr, Brian Chambers, Matt Horohoe, Stephan Jones, Brigid Kegel, Ryan Kim, Hannah Laird, Amanda Leakey, Clarissa Moon, Meghan Moroney, CJ Sikorski, Wesley Slade, Carly Swain, Monica Titus, and Alyssa Yost. The show will be directed by Timothy Williams, with the musical direction of Robin Jensen. The production team includes Cindy White, Scenic Designer; Erin Miner, Lighting Designer; Kurt Wagner, Sound Designer; John E. Palmer, Stage Manager; and Robert Herrle, Production Stage Manager.
Sunday in the Park with George runs from October 6 to October 28 at Mad Cow Theatre, 54 West Church Street in Downtown Orlando, Thursdays-Saturdays @ 7:30pm and Sundays @ 2:30pm. There will be no preview performances.
Opening night, October 6, is a gala with tickets including a pre-show dinner at The Rusty Spoon. Tickets for the gala are on sale for $125.
