It surprised the industry this week when playwright David Adjmi went public about his own tale of developing an Oscar Levant play with Sean Hayes – and not the one that will be seen on Broadway this spring. It has become a he said/they said battle, but BroadwayWorld has the most info in the war of words thus far, including emails between Adjmi and Hayes.

Mr. Allen has serious issues here to litigate -- children abandoned by a parent, Veterans abandoned by their government, wives abandoned by unfaithful spouses -- but the inevitable downers of life are entertainingly leavened by graceful, easy-flowing humor that springs not from punchy one-liners, but from the personality of the characters.

Steve Olsen is presenting great music to go with the great food at his cherished Hell's Kitchen haunt.

Monday evening, November 12, 2018, 8 p.m., The New York Choral Society and Orchestra (NYCHORAL) will present its first program of the season, MY SHADOW AND MY LIGHT, under the baton of Music Director David Hayes at the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. In honor of Veterans Day and in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War and the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht, Maestro Hayes has chosen a program that explores how three early 20th-century composers, two British and one American, created works expressing their deeply personal reactions to these profound moments in human history.

The Florida Professional Theatres Association (FPTA) announced the recipients of its two annual awards at its 37th Annual Statewide Professional Theatre Auditions and Workshops hosted at Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota, Fla. On May 21 at this annual event, The Richard G. Fallon Award for Excellence in Professional Theatre was presented to William "Bill" Hayes, producing artistic director of Palm Beach Dramaworks, a professional theatre company in downtown West Palm Beach.

Luckily, I can always count on Palm Beach Dramaworks to finely tune the most delicate of pieces. The creative team of The Night of the Iguana, led by director William Hayes, along with a Tim Altmeyer-led cast, gave a sudden and much needed voice to a play many put on the back burner.

The New School's College of Performing Arts welcomes the public to the fourth edition of (Un)Silent Film Night, a performance series in which The College of Performing Arts Theater Orchestra performs live music to classic silent films. Previous events in the series have drawn capacity crowds to the 400-seat Tishman Auditorium at The New School.

The New York Choral Society will present Handel's biblical oratorio Israel in Egypt under the baton of Music Director David Hayes, today evening, May 10th, 2016, 8pm at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium. Composed entirely from selected passages from the Bible's Old Testament, Israel in Egypt relates the harshness of the Israelites' captivity in Egypt and their subsequent triumphant escape from the Pharaoh's oppressive regime. Israel in Egypt is atypical in Handel's choral output, as it contains little solo material and is dominated by large-scale virtuosic choruses that exhibit Handel's mastery as a musical storyteller.

?The Mannes Orchestra, the student orchestral ensemble of Mannes College at The New School, and the New York Choral Society will join forces to perform John Adams' On The Transmigration of Souls and Paul Hindemith's When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd, April 8 at Carnegie Hall. David Hayes, who leads both groups, will conduct the performance of these two masterpieces, both of which are inspired by profound historic events and celebrate the strength and resilience of the American spirit. On The Transmigration of Souls will feature the critically acclaimed Young People's Chorus of New York City. When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd will showcase the soloists Abigail Fischer (mezzo-soprano) and Lee Poulis (baritone).
